Publication Ethics

All the authors, who wish to publish their research manuscripts in the journal Plantae Scientia must read and follow all the guidelines for ethical publication. Plantae Scientia strictly adheres the policies of ethical practice. Therefore, we always try to stop the abuse in the publication of scientific works.

Here under are self-explanatory policy statements for the authors.

   About Authorship Conflicts

Authorship is a correct way of giving credit for an individual’s intellectual work. The corresponding author will solely responsible for disagreements over authorship arise. Any change to the author's list after submissions, such as a change in the order of the authors or the deletion or addition of authors needs to be approved by a signed letter from every author. Submission to Plantae Scientia means that all the listed authors have agreed with all of the contents. In the case of multiple authors, each author should have participated sufficiently in the work to take public responsibility for appropriate portions of the content. Authors should provide a description of what each contributed, and editors should publish that information.

Any conflict of authorship can arise at any time either before or during the process of submission of the article. It is the sole and collective responsibility of the authors to take it as their obligation to resolve it. The journal editor cannot be held responsible for any type of mediation or participation to resolve the conflict. It is not the role of an editor to determine who qualifies or not for the authorship.

   Acknowledgements

All others who contributed to the work who are not authors should be named in the Acknowledgments, and what they did should be described. List all contributors who do not meet the criteria for authorship, such as a person who provided purely technical help, writing assistance, or a department chair who provided only general support. Financial and material support should also be acknowledged.

   About Duplicate / Redundant publication

The author is responsible to get permission from the previous publisher or copyright holder if an author is re-using any part of the paper (i.e. figure or figures) published elsewhere, or that is copyrighted.
The editors consider all material in good faith that their journals have full permission to publish every part of the submitted material including illustrations. Plantae Scientia object the exercise of duplication of the text as well as figures in any form. It is recommended before the time of submission of the research papers. The authors are required to inform them before the submission of manuscripts with sufficient documents.

Consideration by the Plantae Scientia is possible if the main result, conclusion, or implications are not apparent from the other work, or if there are other factors, for example, if the other work is published in a language other than English. The right to reject or accept the manuscripts completely lies with the Chief Editor of the journal.

   About Plagiarism

Plagiarism is the use or close imitation of the language and ideas of another author and representation of them as one's own original work. Duplicate publication, sometimes called self-plagiarism, occurs when an author reuses substantial parts of his or her own published work without providing the appropriate references. This can range from getting an identical paper published in multiple journals, where authors add small amounts of new data to a previous paper. Plagiarism can be said to have clearly occurred when large chunks of text have been cut and pasted. Such Research papers would not be considered for publication in Plantae Scientia.

If a case of plagiarism comes to light after a paper is published in Plantae Scientia, the journal will conduct a preliminary investigation. If plagiarism is found, the journal will contact the author's institute and funding agencies. A determination of misconduct will lead the Plantae Scientia to run a statement, directionally linked online to and from the original paper, to note the plagiarism and to provide a reference to the plagiarized material. The paper containing the plagiarism will also be obviously marked on each page of the PDF. Depending on the extent of the plagiarism, the paper may also be formally retracted. The journal adhere to the guidelines of the COPE (Committee on Publication Ethics) and therefore, never promotes the plagiarism in its journals.
